Singapore - Sacred Buddha Tooth Temple - Part 2 (Bangkok)

The Sacred Buddha Tooth Temple in the Chinatown section of Singapore fascinated me, so I have decided to do a posting just of the photos of the temple.  The Buddha's tooth is encased in a 320 kilogram solid gold reliquary!  The next posting, Part 3, will be of Raffles Hotel (home of the Singapore Sling), Merlion Park, and random photos which I took from the upper deck of the tour bus as we followed the route of the tour.

One of the "guards" at the entrance to the temple.
The interior courtyard to the temple, at which point you take off your shoes to enter the temple.
The sweet aroma of incense filled the temple!!
If you think this is a statue of the main Buddha, you ain't seen nothin' yet!
The main attraction!  It is quite beautiful when you view it real time.

The area in front of the Buddha is filled with hundreds of offerings of flowers, fruits, fragrant oil lamps, money, and statues of mythic guards watching over all the loot!

All of the walls of the temple, from floor to ceiling, were lined with thousands of miniature and small statues of Buddha in various poses.

This statue of Buddha (which is considerably large) is in a shrine ("chapel") directly behind the main statue of Buddha.

Views of the main statue of Buddha were all taken at a distance from the side of the temple, since no one was allowed directly in front of the statue.

The next posting....Raffles Hotel.  Interesting name for a hotel, where did it come from?  (Something for you to Google!)

Only guests of the hotel may use the front entrance and enter the lobby of the hotel, everyone else is ushered into a side door.  The arcades of the hotel, including The Long Bar, are open to the public.
