More from Singapore (SINGAPORE)
You have to see this building to believe its scale! The roof top is a huge garden and skywalk overlooking all of Singapore and Singapore Bay. The building is a hotel on the waterfront. It is absolutely breathtaking! It is an engineering marvel.
The day began with thunder storms, so I thought it was a good idea to stay inside. I was advised to go to Marina Bay and to start at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The hotel has a casino, which had throngs of people gambling at noontime, and an indoor shopping mall, the likes of which I have never seen. Every high end brand name was in the mall. There were hundreds of stores in the mall attached to the hotel. Across the street from the hotel complex is a huge waterfront complex of indoor and outdoor attractions. Again, the likes of which I have never seen. Singapore is a cutting edge city with its museums, gardens, conservatories, zoo, and eco-friendly activities. There is no doubt Singapore has spent a ton of money to become a world class city, with an infrastructure that has to be among the finest in the world. The sheer affluence of the environment is evident wherever you look, including the number of people who were shopping, and buying!, today at super expensive stores and dining in world class restaurants. Every top chef in the world must have a restaurant in Marina Bay. I am not exaggerating. The city, the waterfront, the hotels, the stores, the restaurants, (need I go on?) are over the top.
I have many photos to share with you, but I will post some of them tomorrow. It is close to midnight now, and well past my bedtime. If you are a flower lover, get ready for some beautiful photographs. I spent a good part of the day in the "Cloud Forest," which I will explain in the next posting...or, if you can't wait, you can Google to see what it is all about.
