Bangkok, The Royal Palace - Part 2 (THAILAND and VIETNAM)

[I started this posting this morning in Bangkok.  I am now in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  I will finish with my Bangkok photos before I move on to Vietnam photos.]

Since I took so many photos of the temples and shrines on the grounds of the Royal Palace, I decided to devote this posting entirely to those photos.  So this is Part 2 of Bangkok.  I will end with random photos of Bangkok, again mostly of other temples and palaces, in Part 3.  Stay tuned...

Time to admire the lotus flower before continuing with more shrines and temples!

A model of Angkor Wat (Cambodia) commissioned by the then Thai king to be on the grounds of the royal palace for those people to see who could not journey to Cambodia.

After all of those shrines and temples on the grounds of the Royal Palace, we have finally arrived at the palace itself!  The palace was used by Thai kings until the 19th century.

No king is in residence, but the palace is still guard by the King's Guards.

The next posting...the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and more photos of Bangkok (even though I am now in Vietnam)...
