Let us continue our journey to the ruins of ancient Corinth, then go on to the port of Cenchreae, whose importance I will explain when we get to the photos of the ruins of the port. It was a day of on-again/off-again rain showers, some torrential. Some of the photos are darker because of the overcast skies.
Now it is time to go to your Greek dictionary! |
Now we get to a few photos of the ruins of the ancient Roman port of Cenchreae. Its significance lies in the fact that it was the port from which St. Paul returned to Jerusalem after his second missionary journey to Greece. Since our objective was to follow the footsteps of St. Paul, we did not have a chartered boat waiting for us to sail and follow the currents which carried St. Paul back to Jerusalem. Perhaps the next pilgrimage...
I was in Corinth in 1969...I remember the poppies among the rocks...so glad you captured them. Deanna
