Singapore Sights - Part 3 (Bangkok)

Well, there I was in the Tiffin Room of Raffles Hotel a few days ago, enjoying High Tea.  I may have entered by the side door with everyone else, but I made a point of leaving by way of the lobby of the hotel and front door, which is reserved strictly for those who are staying at Raffles Hotel.  I had a great corner table to enjoy all of the sights of the Tiffin Room.  I chose the High Tea to a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar, once I heard the ingredients of a Singapore Sling.  Too sweet for me!  It was also a welcome relief to be out of the heat and humidity of the noon day sun in Singapore.  Now that I am in Bangkok, I am aware of the comfort of the weather there than here!  The heat and humidity in Bangkok are exceptional!  Anyway, back to more photos from beautiful Singapore...

The interior perimeter of the hotel is a maze of of interior courtyards which is open to the public, just don't try to go through the front door of the hotel!

Enjoy the view of the lobby of Raffles Hotel because unless you are a guest you will not get to see it!

Memorial to the people of Singapore who died in its defense during the "Japanese War"  (aka, World War II).
Explanation of Chijmes will soon follow....

Former chapel of the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, a former orphanage, which is now a function hall and part of the Chijmes complex of shops and restaurants.  It is across the street from the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Good Shepherd.
Cathedral of the Good Shepherd

Interior of the cathedral.
Look at whose statute is at the front door of the cathedral.
And a statue of Pope John  Paul II to commemorate his visit to the cathedral.

When you visit Singapore, this is the cathedral's address.
View of downtown Singapore from the upper deck of tour bus.

Billboard in front of the Thai Embassy in Singapore...and now here I am in Thailand!
Just about all of the trees in downtown Singapore had this heart of them.

Facade of the oldest movie theatre in Singapore which has been incorporated into a modern theatre behind it.
The marquee of another art deco building in downtown Singapore.
The first building to greet you when you enter Little India has a Star of David on it.
EVERY taxi in Singapore is new and spotlessly clean!

Active construction sites were everywhere.  This photo was taken on a Sunday!

The first shopping mall of Singapore, Bugis Village.
A very interesting exterior for an office building!

Another view of the Japanese War Monument.

Another view of The Flyer, which takes 30 minutes for a full rotation once you get on for the ride.

A final set of photos from Singapore, including Merlion Park, in the next posting....
